Maria Advert
Maria was built in Holland in the 1930’s as a cargo carrier, a Kagenar barge. In the 1970’s she was converted into a live-aboard. We found her in Holland in 2012 and brought her back to UK for a full refit.
We’ve been live aboard boaters for over 20 years now and have made sure she is built to last. The hull has been over-plated, regularly maintained and blackened, she is insulted thoroughly and has just had a full freshen up. She is a great boat for someone to enjoy and gets plenty of positive comments from passersby.
Maria has a living / dining area with a galley, bathroom and bedroom plus a flexible storage/office/art/additional berth space. She has an engine bay and the original boatman’s cabin that we use as a handy storage / shed space that has been now been lined and insulated. She has hatches and windows galore to let the light in even on the dullest day.

Layout:
Living Space:
Space for a small sofa and armchair as well as a dining table
Storage under entry steps for shoes and umm . . . wine.
Molly Croft to give extra headspace and light, with privacy in mind.
Electrics Cupboard with plenty of storage and other storage hidden around.
Morso Squirrel Stove with fire board surround, we’ve left this untilled so you can add your own style.
Slate hearth surround left big enough to fit wood stacks and coal scuttle easily
Butterfly Dining table (optional to keep) with storage drawers - folds up or can be left down.
Galley:
Gas oven and hob. 24v Fridge. Plenty of cupboards and drawers. Iroko Work Top. Belfast Sink. The gas water heater in situated in the corner.
Bathroom:
French Hip Bath, hand basin and Elsan toilet with wooden surround.
Corridor Space:
We’ve purposefully kept the space in the corridor flexible. Maybe for use as a large wardrobe, home office, extra berth, art space or you could increase the size of the bathroom.
Bedroom:
In the bow is a king size bed with gas struts so you can easily access loads of storage under the bed. There is a fitted wardrobe and space for a chest of drawers and shelving. There is an opening sky light / escape hatch in here and a window / hatch in the bow that opens. It’s a beautiful space to wake up in.
Externally Maria has a large engine room which holds all the necessary equipment. Plus the boatmen’s cabin which can be used for storage of tools etc. Sadly not quite suitable for another cabin, but this is a really handy space none the less.
Mooring:
Maria will be sold as a continuous cruiser without a mooring. She’s currently on the Kennet and Avon canal near Bath. She is great to cruise as she isn’t too big and has plenty of storage and a big water tank.
Other Notes:
Maria has been insulted really well. Every single piece of metal was covered and insulated to maintain heat and keep away any condensation.
We’ve kept her as simply decorated as possible so that you can put your own mark on her, if you’d like.
Maria has everything needed for continuous cruising or shore-based living and will be sold with ropes and pins etc.
